I’ve been creating abstract art and wall art printables for a few years now since 2021 when I started experimenting with Procreate. I’ve always been highly creative but struggled putting pen to paper as I just had so many ideas buzzing around my head. I fell in love with creating digital art because I could work on multiple concepts, switch between canvasses and undo any work I didn’t like. I also love to travel so creating digital art gives me the ability to travel light, with just my iPad and Apple Pencil. Deciding to just focus on wall art printables allows me to myself and my customers more flexibility as well.
The name Koa comes from Maori, meaning happiness, joyfulness, elation, euphoria, gladness and delight. This tends to be how I feel when I’m in the flow state creating the pieces. Bright colours and textures really give me energy!
I’ve realised that a lot of my abstract art is inspired by the relationship between music and light. Having grown up and been taken to music festivals in the UK since I was a small child, I was always mesmerised by the light display that would accompany the music. One of my most memorable gigs was watching Jon Hopkins at Brixton academy with Dan Tombs working on visual display. I was in heaven just standing there absorbing the music and being absorbed by the lights.
More recently since arriving travelling to more tropical parts of this world, my abstract art is inspired by the beautiful and vibrant nature surrounding me. From the coral in the underwater gardens, to the incredible flower species across the islands I travel to.
It’s just been a really nice experience building this online store to display and sell my work. I hope that it also gives you happiness to look at my pieces.
